I got a message from a friend John McCarthy who runs a cool surfing Mag, the Bomb surf. The message was short, ‘I am keen to swim from Aliwal and the weather is good, can you help’. My reply is surprise ‘you want to swim where’.

As the series hit every winter the realization sinks in that I have to race every week for 10 weeks in a row. This bring a number of challenges, if one want to go well at world later in the year then the hard yards get done now. One also needs to look after sponsors who back my racing so the balance is a fine line.
