Finally back on the water the GoPro head shots in the video are from my unit. Fun being back on the water loving paddling with 300 of my mates!

The series I took over some 4 years ago has gone from strength to strength with some amazing number this year. The stress of putting the events on means I don’t always get to paddle and with being ill with a tummy bug 3 weeks ago it was awesome to get back on the start line this week.

The Marine Surfski Series has grown tremendously over the couple year with the involvement of a new title sponsor in Varsity College and the building of a new club house at Marine Surf Lifesaving Club which the paddlers of the series enjoyed so much this year for the first time.

With a little more consistency in training this week I felt a lot stronger on the water. Race 6 was a flop in terms of the body making any progression so was stoked to be feeling a bit stronger. 

Last week was awesome not having a race with the Unlimited Duzi on. My shoulder has been very stiff and starting to niggle and the time off has been great to do some rehab on it.

Everything went so much smoother from a race organiser perspective this week. No admin and most of the paddlers are on the database so it’s so much easier getting through the entry process.

I organised a new starter for the race. Last week of people jumped the start, including me, eish, not meant to say that but my competitive nature comes out at the best and worst of times. Meant to set an example as a race organiser. Lesson learnt and the start was very structure this time.

This is what I have been up to the last couple of weeks. Setting up events is stressful but I am having some fun with some new ideas. The website is still being finished with final touches and will be up on the 1st Dec but here is the poster so long.

I ran my first events this year in the form of the Varsity College Marine Surfski Series. Well here is the supersport show I did for the series.

I have already started with the 2011 season. Things are going well and watch this space for a new website coming soon!

Durban – A stella evening of paddling ended on a high with Matt Bouman and Michelle Eder taking home the overall Varsity College Marine Surfski Series title, whilst youngster Terry McDougall walking away with the inaugural Varsity College SA Schools Surfski Championship.
