I am currently in the amazing little town of St Francis in the Eastern Cape at the moment taking some valued time out. After a mammoth effort in training for Dubai I have been super blown out. Body telling me something so listening for a change.
Staying with the Woods family and joined by some classic friends the last week has been top notch. Wind has been blowing so have only had one day of surf at Seals, we did get it cooking though. Ushered in New Years to open a new chapter and a clean slate of experiences for 2009, super pumped up about the opportunities to come!

Ended up doing 2 races early in the week down here. The Investec Surfski and Canoe races. The ski race had to be moved to the river due to some big surf, ended up 3rd to house mates Steve Woods and Richard Von Wildermann. Paddled really badly getting stuck on a sand bank near the finish. Stupid mistakes. The canoe race the next day went way better. I broke away with Greg Louw early and had a nice ding dong battle of tactics through the canals. Greg got the better of me in the last stretch so got 2nd. Well organised and well attended by the holiday makers down here this time of year. Free entry with tons of prizes. Definitely worth putting on the calendar for next year, I will be back even with my shocking December time out form.
Heading back to Durban on the weekend to open the Varsity College Surfskischool for the year and kick off 2009’s racing with first Marine Surfski Series Race on fri the 9th Jan. If you in town get down there! |
