These races just don’t disappoint. Probably my favourite events of the year. These is no pressure and get to really enjoy the day out with some of my team Jeep mates.

I choose to race 2 man teams with Varsity College’s Craig Turton. Craig had an awesome run leading the team event. I haven’t been riding with all my prep for the states in the coming weeks so my job was to survive with no crashes or mistakes. It went really well. Didn’t die on the bike and no crashes, thank goodness! Lost some time to a couple teams but our paddling was really strong and we caught up to 2nd and not far off the leaders.

The surprise of the day was deffinately the girl’s team of Zsofi Erdélyi and Eszter Cluer. This sister paring had never been in a boat together and won the ladies by miles. They even led the men’s race for most the way. We only caught them right near the end. Well done girls, so stoked you took on the paddle and did so well. They looked like they were having so much fun in the process, which is always great to see. Check out Eszter’s classic website out at www.multigirl.co.za
Team Jeep’s Andrew Brikett took the individuals. Andrew is really growing into a world class athlete and is even getting a shout out from the likes Dan Hugo.
The next race will be on the 6th September at Nagel Dam. All the results from Shongweni and info on Nagel are at www.maxcluer.com
Been running some teams for Varsity College. Great to see this team from their Durban North Campus do so well. Lucky, Arnold and Grant!

Thanks to my training partner of late Michele Eray (http://micheray.wordpress.com/) for taking some pics with my camera! More photo's to come!
