Been challenging myself this year with some different cross training, one of them being mountain biking and am loving it. Loving it enough to sign up for my first big mountain bike race, namely the Berg and Bush this weekend. For me it will be more of a tour than a race. Hear some great things about the race and getting excited about getting out in the bush.

For most surfski paddlers the thrill of downwind paddling is what keeps them coming back and is the goal of every new paddler to experience. Well today reminded me why I love surfski racing and am not sprinting down a lane in a K1, my mind just wasn’t built that way.

| Curry Cup Final - Durban lives large! |

It’s very hard to explain the vibe at a rugby game in Durban. The atmosphere at Kings Park is world renowned. It is simply electrifying.
This weekend it was as good as it’s ever been. The Sharks hosted the Bull Bulls for the curry cup final. In my back yard there was no way in the world I would miss it. Luckily my uncle wasn’t using his tickets and I picked them up. Thanks Uncle Peter!

| Croc Race Report |

Day 1
The Croc is a very narrow and technical river with a weir some 20m after the start. It’s impossible to send batches off so the start format is one of a time trail. I got a good seeding starting 3rd. Had a good start shooting the first 2 weirs fine. Caught the dood that started in 2nd about a min in front of me and passed him to get some open water. Unfortunately at the 10km weir I bent my rudder and it kept getting stuck up when I went through rapids. Well 2 stops to straighten it later I shot the notorious no 14 rapid without swimming, fini...

Well its Thursday and the first time I have been able to get on my laptop this week. I am in the Croc Valley just outside Nelspruit for the week. What may you ask is a surfski paddler doing 750 km from salt water? Well I got in invite from housemate Ant Stott to travel up the Crock river marathon with him and spend the week up here training.
