I was born on 19/04/83 in Empangeni on the KwaZulu Natal North coast to Mother Bambi Edwina May Barber and Father Mark Alexander Lewin. I was brought up in Durban and haven’t left, I love it here. 

I played almost all sports through school but only started paddling a K1 in STD 8 and then progressed to Surfski racing when I left school. I currently race as a semi pro athlete in events all over the world. I try get to as many international surfski races I can afford and hope to one day travel the world permanently on a surfski world tour. Call me a dreamer! If surfing can do it why cant we. 

I am really excited about 2008, a clean slate to fill with amazing experiences. There are many new places to see and races to win. With less studying commitments this year to make room for my new business (Varsity College Surfskischool) I am looking forward to the challenges at every turn. I started this website to showcase my awesome sponsors and give you an insight into my life as a surfski paddler.
